An IP Video Intercom System is an advanced, digital communication network that transmits audio and high-definition video signals over local area networks (LAN) or the internet using the Internet Protocol suite (TCP/IP). How Does an IP Video Intercom System Work?

Signal Digitalization
When a visitor presses the call button, the high-definition camera and microphone on the outdoor station capture their image and voice. This analog sensory data is immediately digitized and compressed using advanced codecs like H.264/H.265 (video) and G.711 (audio) to ensure efficient bandwidth usage.
Network Transmission
The compressed digital packets are assigned IP addresses and routed across the local network using standard switches or routers. If the system is cloud-connected, the packets travel securely through a WAN to cloud servers, which push the call notification directly to mobile apps or remote monitoring stations.
Authentication & Access
The resident views the live video, speaks to the visitor, and presses the "Unlock" button. An encrypted command packet is transmitted back to the outdoor station's built-in relay, closing or opening the electrical circuit of the door lock to grant entry.
